Vaccination Conversation Training

North West London NHS have commissioned in person training sessions in having ‘Vaccination Conversations’. This one-day training will introduce the latest evidence-based techniques to guide conversations about vaccinations and to help engage with the vaccination concerns of residents.

The training is for:

  • Professionals and volunteers working with Westminster or Kensington and Chelsea residents who regularly have conversations about vaccinations as part of their role.

To mark Anti-Slavery Day 2025, we are pleased to invite you to an event hosted by Westminster, Hammersmith & Fulham and Kensington and Chelsea councils; ‘Our Culture, Your Systems’. This event will focus on the challenges of navigating complex UK support systems and will explore how culture can have an impact on the likelihood of reporting and accessing support for modern slavery and exploitation. We will be joined by guest speakers with lived experience and, local organisations representing the voices of those most affected by modern slavery across the three boroughs.

» Kooth - FREE online MH/ Wellbeing support for young people + list of resources

Kooth offers free online mental health and wellbeing support for young people and has a range and choice of support options under one digital roof. It has services that are accessible 7 days a week, 365 days a year. This includes one to one text based sessions with experienced counsellors and wellbeing practitioners. » Understanding Miscarriage workshop (24.09.2024)

Mosaic will be co-facilitating a women’s health workshop on Understanding miscarriage on 24th September at 4 Lilestone Street. This workshop is part of an ongoing series of health sessions that Mosaic has been running in collaboration with Women’s Health, Imperial College, and the NHS. The session is open to women from ethnic minority backgrounds who may have experienced miscarriage and are seeking information or emotional support, as well as to women who may feel anxious about pregnancy due to the risk of miscarriage.

» LSCP training: Learning from Case Reviews workshop (24.09.25)

This workshop will focus on a variety of topics from recent local and national child safeguarding practice reviews, rapid reviews and learning reviews. Some of the recommendations and key learning will be explored and delegates will be encouraged to discuss the learning that applies to their setting and some changes that they may be able to implement. The session is aimed at anyone working with Children or Families in the triborough (West, K&C and H&F).

» iHV Project: Supporting Black Women’s Health Between Pregnancies

The Institute of Health Visiting (iHV) is a UK organisation which helps health visitors give high-quality care to families. With funding from The Burdett Trust for Nursing, the iHV is launching a new project to better support Black women’s health between pregnancies. As part of this project we’re looking for Black women who are mothers and community leaders to help run insight groups and workshop groups with black women.

London Resilience is working in collaboration with Shade the UK to interview people in London about their experiences with extreme heat. Tackling the impacts of extreme heat requires building a culture of resilience where no one is left behind. This is why we want to engage with Voluntary, Community, and Faith organisations who work with people considered more vulnerable to heatwaves and those that are currently underrepresented in current heat-resilience conversations.

Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is currently refreshing their Interpreting and Translation Policy. While it’s primarily a staff-facing document, it has a direct impact on patients—so they are really keen to gather patient views, perspectives, and feedback.

This October, Westminster Talking Therapies we will be running a short work experience programme for adults. This will take place weekly on Wednesdays for four weeks, and we are particularly interested in receiving applicants from men from a global majority background. » PAPYRUS - Free Suicide Prevention Training Opportunity for professionals

PAPYRUS is offering fully funded training for professionals working with vulnerable young people (under 18) in London and Essex. In this training you will learn to identify signs of suicide, how to intervene safely, and reduce stigma. The training will take place on 25 and 26 September between 9am–5pm at University Square Stratford, UEL, E15 1NF.

» Funding Opportunity: Support for Environmental Projects in Your Community

The National Lottery Awards for All England – Environment programme is here to support groups wanting to make a green difference in their community. This funding opportunity offers grants of £300 to £20,000 for projects that meet one or both of these aims: help people connect with and care for nature in their area; make a positive difference to the environment. For example this could be: Make a positive difference to local green spaces; Connect local people to nature (e.g. running forest schools, creating or improving community allotments with wildlife-friendly features)

» North West London Integrated Care Board to consider future model, including merger

In June 2025, NHS England asked both North Central London and North West London Integrated Care Boards (ICBs) to develop options around closer collaboration and possible merger, as part of changes to the role, remit and significant funding reductions for ICBs announced earlier in the year. Today, we have published Board papers (for our meeting on at 1pm on Wednesday 23 July 2025) which set out four options for the future model of our organisation The papers also include plans for the transition of services indicated for transfer in NHS England’s Model ICB blueprint.

Our ambition of place-based giving is big: we believe it has the potential to bring people together to tackle the issues that matter most to them in one of the most unequal cities in the world.

» Free Drama workshops from Outside Edge

Outside Edge Theatre company are running completely free weekly Drama and Creative Writing groups across London (including in Pimlico) for adults affected by addiction, whether they’re currently in recovery, at risk, impacted by a loved one’s addiction, or supporting others.

» FREE LGBTQIA+ and African Heritage tours at the Tate

These regular, free tours at both Tate Britain and Tate Modern explore the art on display through the lens of LGBTQIA+ identity and African Heritage. The guides who lead the tours identify as part of these communities and share personal reflections on the artworks. Each tour lasts around 45 minutes and offers a relaxed and enjoyable way to engage with art that explores themes of identity.

» Update on changes to ICBs - message from NHS North West London CEO

Overview: On Wednesday 12 March 2025, Chief Executives of all 42 Integrated Care Boards (ICBs) were briefed by NHS England that ICBs would face significant (approx. 50%) cost reductions in 2025/26. This is because the government wants to focus resources on frontline care. All parts of the NHS, including providers and national bodies, are being told to further reduce non-frontline spending. It was later announced that NHS England – the body which leads the NHS – will close and a number of its functions will move into the Department for Health and Social Care (DHSC).

» Using AI for grant applications

The National Lottery Community Fund (NLCF) has released a new statement saying that it will not reject applications from charities that have used AI tools. Recognising the value in tools such as ChatGPT, Gemini, Copilot and Claude to save time and improve accessibility, NLCF have reassuringly said “you can use AI tools to help write your funding application. We will not reject an application just because AI was used.” Although AI applications will be considered, they have recommended to charities to make sure they personalise their applications and avoid using AI-suggested budgets without reviewing them.

» Westminster website now translates in 20 languages

The Westminster City Council website now has a translate button at the top which gives translation of all pages in 20 languages. The translation is through google translate - so it is not going to be perfect, but it may help with sharing information with a resident who doesn't speak English. Also they would be keen to have some feedback about whether people find it useful or not, and anything that could be improved.

Waterloo Community Counselling's Low-Cost Counselling services offer long-term talking therapy at reduced fees. We reach adults from diverse backgrounds who have experienced loss, trauma and abuse, and are struggling with anxiety, depression and other difficulties. Our unique Multi-Ethnic Counselling Service (MECS) provides free mother-tongue counselling to migrants, refugees and asylum seekers who have survived exile, torture, human trafficking and modern slavery in 34 languages.

It is recognised that in many cases a number of callers to emergency services may not have English as their first language. In such instances, a third party language translation service may be used to assist the EMD (Emergency Medical Dispatcher) in taking the details of the call (at the point of the 999 or 111 call) . [This is done by conferencing in the interpreter once the language required is confirmed].
