Do you have a couple of hours to spare on a regular basis that you could contribute to making a difference to somebody’s life?

Central London Healthcare is seeking volunteers to take part in our Older Person Befriending Scheme, to offer support to older people suffering from ill health as a result of isolation.

By volunteering you could:

§  Find out more about the issues facing other members of your community

§  Feel a sense of achievement from helping to improve somebody’s life and wellbeing

All of our befriendees have been referred through their GP, so your time would help to make a difference where there is a genuine need.

As a befriender you would offer real social contact to an older person and help them to engage in the community around them.  This could include simply having coffee and a chat, accompanying your befriendee to a tea dance or going for a walk.   You would be carefully matched with an older person who shares common interests or has a similar professional or cultural background.

Training, ongoing support and out-of-pocket expenses will be provided.

The scheme will initially be based around St John’s Wood in London; therefore volunteers must be willing to travel to this area.
